a slightly earlier than contracted start at work and no lunch meant i was able to get on the 18.30 train home. Sadly my seat on the floor next to the toilet might have to host me for longer than either of us want / the train is chugging and squeaking like its slowly breaking down as britains drips in sweat. i had a 7am call time today so had to get on the 05.43 from colchester. Normally on earlies id jump on a tube to save me 20mins but that wasnt possible today as the 48 hr tube strike was on. One might have sympathy for the tube staff if it wasnt for their short hours,respectable pay,generous holiday entitlements and pensions. When the rest of the country is tightening its belts bob crow and his loonies are fighting an ideological battle they simply cannot win.
